UNESCO World Heritage Sites in India
The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) designates World Heritage Sites of outstanding universal importance to cultural or natural heritage.
Which have been nominated by countries that are signatories to the UNESCO World Heritage Convention, founded in 1972.
There are 40 World Heritage Sites in India announced by UNESCO. Recently, in 2021, UNESCO added two more heritage sites from India: ‘Ramappa Temple,’ Telangana, and ‘Dholavira,’ Gujarat, to the UNESCO World Heritage sites list.
